A Tribute to Valkrista Swedish Vallhunds

Rose was a founder, friend and fellow breeder who gave generously of her time to many.  Rose worked hard to firmly establish the Swedish Vallhund Breed here in NZ and became know through her efforts at the NZKC as "Mrs Swedish Vallhund of NZ". 

Throughout the years Rose has imported Swedish Vallhunds 9 times to New Zealand from, Australia, Ireland and England, to aid in the genetic diversity of the breed.  She has always generously shared with other breeders her new lines and Valkrista can be seen today on virtually all of the pedigree's of Swedish Vallhunds in NZ.

To date, Valkrista Swedish Vallhunds has founded the majority of breeders in New Zealand and indeed many of us would never have had the opportunity to meet, or become involved with these wonderful little dogs of the Vikings, without Rose and her Valkrista Kennel. 

A true Pioneer of a rare breed it is with great saddness that we acknowledge her recent passing.

Rose helped to found our kennel with her wonderful home bred girl,  NZ Champion & Multi Group Winner Valkrista Alatna.  Ash recently created a part of breed history in NZ with her In Group Win at National Show Level.  When I was finally able to phone Rose the smile in her  voice that day said it all.

Rose you will be greatly missed and it is with saddness that we here at Vanaheim say farewell, safe journey, and God Speed.
